Boston is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, located in Suffolk County.
It is the largest city which is part of New England, located in the northeast part of US. The city is known to be a hub of cultural and economic activities. It comprises of a Greater Boston area which has about 4.8 million people living in it. The city one of the oldest in the country and was formed by Puritan settlers who came here in 1630 from England. There are several historic events that are linked to the city such as the Boston Tea Party, Boston Massacre, Battle of Bunker Hill, American Revolution and others. It grew to be a center of port activities as well as a manufacturing hub. It is a center of culture and education as well. Boston is known for several universities and colleges that it houses which makes it a center for higher education. There is the Boston Public Garden which forms a part of the Emerald Necklace which is the name given to a series of parks that were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted encircling the city. This string of parks includes Franklin Park, which is the largest park in the city as well as it is home to Franklin Park Zoo. The Hatch Shell is a venue for outdoor concerts that is also a popular place to visit and check out the shows that are hosted here by different artists.
